Your entire premise is incorrect. The AR-15 rifle is not a military rifle. The M-16 was developed as an automatic version of it and became standard issue in multiple branches of the military. A little 5 minute research will reveal that the AR-15 gun was originally marketed to civilians and never saw use in the United States military at any point in history.
A better question would be: Why do anti-gunners make blind accusations about the AR-15 without first doing a Google search to ensure they are not spreading misinformation?
