Trump’s lawyers still won’t actually say it
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/09/12/trump-filing-declassified-documents/
Trump’s lawyers have said repeatedly in court filings that Trump had the power
as president to declassify the documents — and they said that as far back as
in May, in a letter. But, as in that letter, the lawyers won’t go as
far as to say he actually did so. They won’t say it even though
former Trump aide Kash Patel, in response to a report about classified documents
being housed at Mar-a-Lago, said on Breitbart News in May that Trump
“declassified whole sets of materials in anticipation of leaving
government.” They won’t say it even though Trump issued a statement
as early as Aug. 12 that “It was all declassified.” (Back then,
Trump’s team also claimed on Fox News, without evidence, that he had a
“standing order” that “documents removed from the Oval Office and taken to
the residence were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them.”)
2. Zadny U.S. President, ani Dear Leader, nema narok na odvezeni dokumentu,
specielne ne ty ktere jsou nejprisneji tajne. Takove dokumenty patri
lidem/vlade.
The reason why presidents can't keep their White House records dates
back to Nixon

So when former President Donald Trump left office on Jan. 20, 2021, all his
records should have traveled from the White House to the National Archives,
according to Jason R. Baron, who served as director of litigation at the
National Archives for 13 years.
